Fountain of Youth
The brief
Guy Ritchie tries to channel his Lock Stock energy into a globe-trotting treasure hunt, but the snappy dialogue feels forced and the elaborate heists lack his usual precision timing. Krasinski and Portman have zero sibling chemistry despite being asked to carry the entire emotional weight, while González gets stuck playing the token badass with nothing interesting to do. The whole thing moves like a expensive theme park ride that keeps breaking down just when you're getting into it. Skip this unless you're desperate for background noise or really miss those mid-2000s Nicolas Cage adventure flicks.
The verdict
If you have a soft spot for nostalgic treasure hunting adventures and don't mind clunky execution when you're craving that National Treasure fix, this delivers just enough globe-trotting spectacle to scratch the itch. If you expect Guy Ritchie's trademark wit and timing or need convincing character chemistry to stay invested, you'll find this a frustratingly hollow two-hour slog that wastes its talented cast.
