The brief

Director Sandra Sciberras turns what could've been a generic retired-assassin thriller into something surprisingly grounded, anchoring the action around Radha Mitchell's weathered portrayal of a sniper trying to be a mom. The Australian outback setting gives the cat-and-mouse sequences a sun-baked tension that feels more patient and methodical than your typical shoot-em-up. Tim Roth brings his usual quiet menace as The Dragon, but it's the strained mother-daughter dynamic between Mitchell and newcomer Annabel Wolfe that gives the violence actual weight. Perfect for fans of "The Accountant" or "Nobody" who want their action served with genuine family stakes instead of just revenge porn.

The verdict

If you crave action movies that prioritize character development and family drama over non-stop explosions, this grounded Australian thriller delivers patient tension with genuine emotional stakes. If you want fast-paced shootouts and traditional revenge plots, the slower burn and heavy focus on mother-daughter relationships will likely disappoint.
