The brief

This slime isekai movie feels like an extended beach episode that got a theatrical budget, complete with tropical resort vibes and the franchise's signature mix of wholesome friendship moments and light political intrigue. Director Yasuhito Kikuchi keeps things breezy and colorful, but the pacing drags whenever it tries to balance vacation hijinks with the mysterious Yura subplot. Miho Okasaki brings her usual charm to Rimuru, though the voice cast feels like they're on autopilot through familiar character beats. Perfect for fans who want more time with these characters in a low-stakes setting, but newcomers should definitely start with the main series first.

The verdict

If you're already invested in the Slime universe and enjoy low-stakes character hangouts with pretty animation, this extended beach episode with a theatrical budget delivers exactly what you'd expect. If you're new to the franchise or need tight pacing and meaningful plot development from your anime films, start with the main series instead and skip this breezy but ultimately forgettable side quest.
